Field Hockey Releases 2008 Schedule

April 15, 2008

Loudonville, N.Y. - Siena Field Hockey coach Bill Davidson released his team's 2008 schedule earlier this afternoon. The Saints will compete in 16 regular season games this fall, which include six conference tilts and ten non-conference battles.

"We have been busy as a team this off-season in preparing for the fall," remarked Davidson who is set to guide the Green and Gold in his second year at the helm. "The excitement is there, we are continuing to improve and the returning players are looking forward to the start of the season."

Siena begins the regular season on Aug. 30 in Hamilton, N.Y. against Colgate in an evening start slated for 7 p.m. The Saints then return to Loudonville to begin a four game homestand which opens on Sept. 2 against Holy Cross at 4:30 p.m.

The Green and Gold then host a pair of home games on the campus of UAlbany against Hofstra (Sept. 5) and Cornell (Sept. 7). The homestand concludes back at Siena Turf Field, which the Saints will call home for a second straight season, on Sept. 13 against LaSalle.

The Saints then head back on the road for a pair of games at Bucknell (Sept. 27) and 2007 NCAA Tournament Team UMass (Oct. 4).

Siena concludes a highly competitive non-conference slate with a cross-town showdown in the state capital against UAlbany on Oct. 7.

"We have a very challenging non-conference schedule which will help prepare us for our league games," added Davidson. "Competing against teams like UMass who made the NCAA Tournament a year ago and UAlbany who is a local rival along with our other non-conference opponents, it should be very exciting."

Northeast Conference action opens Oct. 10 in Moon Township, Pa. against Robert Morris. The Saints begin with three of their first four NEC game outside the Capital Region, although the schedule to end the season is highly favorable.

The Green and Gold embark upon their second four game homestand to close out the year on Oct. 24 against Rider. Conference match-ups with Monmouth (Oct. 26) and defending conference champion Lock Haven (Oct. 31) round out the NEC slate.

The Saints conclude the regular season on Nov. 2 when they welcome future conference opponent Bryant to Siena Turf Field for Senior Day.

The 2008 Northeast Conference Tournament is set to get underway Nov. 7-9.
